HUD to investigate mortgage lenders who discriminate against expectant mother and new parents
HUD - Brian Sullivan - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced today that it will launch multiple investigations into the lending practices of certain mortgage lenders to determine if they illegally denied families mortgages because the mother is pregnant or a family member is experiencing a short-term disability. The action follows a report published this week in the New York Times outlining the lending practices of some lenders which might possibly violate the Fair Housing Act.

ALTA Grassroots Update - August 19, 2009

Some lawmakers are suspending their townhall meetings, instead holding smaller sessions, telephone briefings and inviting constituents to one-on-one office visits. All of this means that the best method of relaying your concerns about the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) is through one-on-one meetings with Representatives or their staff in their district offices. Another novel way of expressing your concerns is to invite them to come to your office and sit in on a closing to see how the process works.
